Alternate Cards: Suit of Air

In the process of creating the Primordial Dreams Tarot, I made a lot of different images for each card, and then often had to winnow down. Many of these images were obviously not-great - I'm not including those here! - but there were a number that I found to be really powerful images in their own right, even if they either didn't suit a given card, didn't match the overall look of the deck - or just didn't fit as well as the final image I ultimately chose for that card.

This page features all my favorites of the "rejected" Suit of Air (aka Wands) cards. The Earth suit was the first one I made, and the one I experimented with the most. By the time I made the other suits, I already really knew what I wanted the cards to look like, and how to get what I wanted. As a result, I don't have as many alternate cards to share for this suit. For whatever reason, Air was by far the easiest Minor suit to create - perhaps Midjourney most clearly understands concepts of the mind, thought, spirit and inspiration?

The images included here are unmodified from their original generation, beyond basic upscaling. All cards in the final deck were significantly modified, altered, and layered over to create the final images.

To generate these images, I referenced the phrase "in the style of cave paintings" - and rather than simply referencing the name of a given Tarot card, I also prompted using the meanings and attributes of the cards, to create meditative occult sigils. All of these images were generated as magical workings.
